{"id":119,"date":"2013-05-20T00:50:02","date_gmt":"2013-05-20T00:50:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trainfit.com\/blog\/?p=119"},"modified":"2013-05-20T00:50:02","modified_gmt":"2013-05-20T00:50:02","slug":"aqua-training","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trainfit.com\/blog\/aqua-training\/","title":{"rendered":"Aqua Training"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aqua Training<\/p>\n<p>Ahhhh, summer is here.\u00a0 My favorite time of year.\u00a0 My kids are home with me all day.\u00a0 I get to sleep in on off days, take naps, no more homework and the pool!!!\u00a0\u00a0 Next to running, its my favorite way to workout.<\/p>\n<p>After months and months of training for a\u00a0marathon and experimenting new workouts on myself, finally training in the pool is back.\u00a0 I absolutely cannot say enough wonderful things about working out in the water.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t misunderstand me, this is not your mom&#8217;s water aerobic class.\u00a0\u00a0 You can get such an intense workout\u00a0with the joy of\u00a0no joint pain\u00a0afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>When I run I just accept my knees will hurt. It&#8217;s my little reminder of my hard work.\u00a0 When I do my strength training, I know my muscles will ache some.\u00a0 In the water though, I can run, jump,\u00a0break a big sweat and\u00a0work my muscles until they beg me to stop. Then I get out of the pool and feel refreshed, \u00a0rejuvenated\u00a0with pain free joints.<\/p>\n<p>I know that sounds crazy, but you can work so hard in the pool.\u00a0 The water is giving you resistance with every move you make.\u00a0 It is also constantly working on your balance and core strength.\u00a0 When you add cardio intervals in the deep water to that, you have a fantastic all in one muscle strengthening, cardio improving, calorie burning crazy workout.<\/p>\n<p>My favorite part\u00a0of the pool is the equipment we use called Aqualogix.\u00a0 This is a set of\u00a0hand held bells and ankle straps\u00a0that come in different resistances to create drag in the water.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The exercises can be very similar to what you do inside like a chest press or a row.\u00a0 In the water though, you are doing the chest press and rows all at once because of the constant resistance.\u00a0You end up getting more bang for your buck.\u00a0\u00a0You are working harder for each exercise and in the end getting in more exercise in the same amount of workout time.<\/p>\n<p>Even though there are similarities, the exciting exercises are the intense plyometric ones you cannot do in the studio such as Jump Squats, Jumping Lunges,\u00a0Tuck Jumps\u00a0and more.\u00a0 Plyometric exercises are\u00a0so good for your body, if your body can do it and handle the ouch afterwards.\u00a0 Do not get me wrong, I love my plyometric exercises, but in the water I have so much more power and speed because\u00a0 I am weightless and free to move harder and longer.\u00a0 This provides an opportunity to try challenging moves you might not try on the floor.<\/p>\n<p>Summer\u00a0is always over so fast.\u00a0 I encourage you to try aqua training while you have the chance.\u00a0 It is unique, enjoyable and a great way to change up your workout routine during the summer.<\/p>\n<p>Happy Training, Dolores<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aqua Training Ahhhh, summer is here.\u00a0 My favorite time of year.\u00a0 My kids are home with me all day.\u00a0 I get to sleep in on off days, take naps, no more homework and the pool!!!\u00a0\u00a0 Next to running, its my favorite way to workout.
