{"id":57,"date":"2013-03-05T21:57:45","date_gmt":"2013-03-05T21:57:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trainfit.com\/blog\/?p=57"},"modified":"2015-09-08T16:42:14","modified_gmt":"2015-09-08T16:42:14","slug":"i-love-breakfast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trainfit.com\/blog\/i-love-breakfast\/","title":{"rendered":"I love breakfast!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I really do love breakfast.\u00a0 In a perfect world, I would have an omelet, fresh fruit and an English muffin with apricot jam.\u00a0 Unfortunately, like most people, I don&#8217;t live in that world.\u00a0 I do, however, know the benefits of having something for breakfast.\u00a0 My day gets a kick-start, my system gets its wake up call and my metabolism is ready to work for the day.<\/p>\n<p>Yet despite all my good intentions, sometimes the morning slips away from me and I know I&#8217;ve set myself up for failure for the rest of the day.\u00a0 Around 10:00 or so, I need a nap and I&#8217;m kind of grumpy.\u00a0 So (since I think I&#8217;ve waited too long for breakfast) I just wait for lunchtime to roll around and then make poor choices for my meal.\u00a0 At that point, I want fat and carbohydrates to feed my food cravings and then again&#8230;I&#8217;m lethargic in the afternoon.\u00a0 My evening meal gets pushed back since I&#8217;m still stuffed from lunch and, as a result, I&#8217;m not very hungry the next morning.\u00a0 So it&#8217;s a catch 22.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve learned that I have a narrow window of opportunity for my first meal of the day (and it&#8217;s really true that breakfast is the most important meal of the day).\u00a0 When I first walk into the kitchen, I need to have my meal already planned out.\u00a0 Yogurt, cereal, eggs and whole grain toast, etc.\u00a0 I find I&#8217;m hungry the rest of the day but I want smaller meals and make healthier food choices than I would otherwise have made from skipping breakfast.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m working to rid myself of the excuses everyone uses to skip breakfast:\u00a0 I can&#8217;t eat early in the morning, I don&#8217;t have time or that I&#8217;m limiting calories by skipping a meal (possibly the worst excuse of all).\u00a0 First of all, I can always have a little something early and then a snack mid-morning.\u00a0 As far as time, seriously, how long does it take to scramble an egg and make toast?\u00a0 And limiting calories&#8230;no one ever loses weight by skipping meals unless they&#8217;re on a hunger strike!<\/p>\n<p>Breakfast should be at the top of everyone&#8217;s to-do list for the day.\u00a0 It&#8217;s all about the planning!<\/p>\n<p>Kim<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I really do love breakfast.\u00a0 In a perfect world, I would have an omelet, fresh fruit and an English muffin with apricot jam.\u00a0 Unfortunately, like most people, I don&#8217;t live in that world.\u00a0 I do, however, know the benefits of having something for breakfast.\u00a0 My day gets a kick-start, my system gets its wake up [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mbp_gutenberg_autopost":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.6 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>I love breakfast!
